Museo Archeologico di Torre: in arrivo i fondi dalla Regione per il riallestimento del percorso espositivo

Good news for the region’s cultural heritage: the Friuli Venezia Giulia Regional Government has approved the funding application submitted by the local council, allocating over 200,000 euros to the Museo Archeologico del Friuli Occidentale - Castello di Torre.

The announcement came following a resolution by the Regional Executive, which included the project amongst those eligible for funding for extraordinary maintenance, restoration, conservation-based refurbishment, extension, building renovation and the refurbishment of museum displays.

Councillor Alberto Parigi: “We have for some time now instructed our departments to identify all available funding opportunities, and I must express my sincere appreciation for the work carried out: the results achieved are truly significant. The substantial funding we have managed to secure will be allocated to our museums and their development, enabling us to revitalise the city’s museum heritage. Heartfelt thanks also go to the Region for the grant awarded, which represents an important recognition of the value of our projects.”

Perfect timing: work is set to begin in 2026, the very year in which the Museum will mark the twentieth anniversary of its opening at its current home in Torre Castle. Two decades of activity that deserve to be celebrated with a major refurbishment project.

The regional grant will enable the first phase of the refurbishment of the permanent exhibition to begin, starting with the galleries dedicated to Prehistory and the Palù di Livenza pile-dwelling site, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This will not merely be a cosmetic revamp: the update will enable the museum to showcase the numerous archaeological discoveries, new finds and findings that have emerged in recent years from scientific research. The museum will thus be able to tell the story of the region with more comprehensive and up-to-date content.

This project marks the first step in a wider refurbishment programme which will gradually extend to the entire museum layout, offering visitors a renewed cultural experience in keeping with the times.
