May at the Civic Museums is all about excitement, curiosity and sharing. This month’s programme ranges from the wild landscapes of Latin America to local archaeology, from art to palaeontology, with a special focus on families and young children, whilst not forgetting adult visitors.

Sunday 3 May, 3.30 pm: final guided tour of the exhibition ‘Images from the New World – Biodiversity of Latin American Fauna’ at the Museo di Storia Naturale Silvia Zenari

A final chance before the exhibition closes to admire Patrizio Maniero’s extraordinary photographs, accompanied by zoological specimens from the Museum’s permanent collections. Through images and objects, visitors will be able to discover the remarkable hunting and adaptation strategies of the animals of Central and South America, prompting reflection on the fate of many species in an increasingly fragile ecosystem.

The monthly event for families is back: every second Saturday of the month, the Museo di Storia Naturale "Silvia Zenari" opens its doors to young and old alike with a new, engaging activity full of surprises. This month, we’ll be stepping into the shoes of palaeontologists: we’ll find out what this fascinating profession involves and how palaeontologists carry out their work in the field and in the laboratory. An afternoon of wonder and fun, to help us all understand just how closely connected we are to the natural world around us. For families with children aged 6 to 10.

A real journey back in time: by exploring the artefacts at the Museo Archeologico del Friuli Occidentale, families will discover the fashions, crafts and way of life of the Metal Age.
