Marzo nei Musei Civici

Educational activities, guided tours, meetings with authors and a special workshop to mark World Water Day: the March programme at the Pordenone Civic Museums features a varied line-up designed to appeal to a wide range of visitors, including families with children, art enthusiasts, and lovers of nature and photography.

Activities, such as guided tours and workshops, are included in the price of the admission ticket, which is free for children up to the age of 10 and for people with disabilities and their carers; full price is 5 euros, and the reduced price is 3 euros, which also applies to young people aged 11 to 18 (excluding the Galleria Bertoia).

THE PROGRAM

On Sunday 1 March at 3.30 pm at the Museo Archeologico del Friuli Occidentale, the month kicks off with ‘Masks from Ancient Rome’, a two-hour workshop for families with children aged 6 to 10, which will take participants on a journey of discovery through theatre in ancient Rome: the characters, the masks, and the roles each one represented. An engaging journey through time, which will conclude with the creation of their very own mask.

At the Museo di Storia Naturale “Silvia Zenari”, two events are scheduled with Patrizio Maniero, the photographer behind the images on display in the exhibition “Images from the New World: Biodiversity of Latin American Fauna”. The first event, scheduled for Saturday 7 March at 5.00 pm, will be a discussion accompanied by music and evocative images, offering an insight into the author’s journey. The second, on Saturday 28 March, also at 5.00 pm, will focus on the ‘behind-the-scenes’ story: the day-to-day work of a nature photographer in the wild and unspoilt environments of South America.

On Sunday 8 March and Sunday 29 March at 3.30 pm, guided tours of the exhibition “Robert Doisneau. The Gaze that Tells a Story” will take place at Galleria Bertoia: two opportunities to immerse yourself in the world of one of the greatest photographers of the 20th century. The exhibition brings together over a hundred images that trace the career of Doisneau, the master who captured Paris like no other: the cobbled streets, the cafés, the working-class neighbourhoods, and of course the famous *Baiser de l’Hôtel de Ville*, the black-and-white kiss that has become a universal icon.

On Saturday 14 March, from 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm at the Museo di Storia Naturale, the monthly workshop ‘Saturday at the Museum: Let’s…’ returns, this time inspired by Patrizio Maniero’s photography exhibition. Children will be able to discover some of the most extraordinary characteristics of Latin American animals, their hunting strategies, physical adaptations and survival secrets in one of the richest ecosystems on the planet.

On Sunday 15 March at 3.30 pm, at the , there will be a themed tour open to all, entitled ‘Views of the Landscape’, offering a fresh perspective on the museum’s collections. Wandering through the rooms of Palazzo Ricchieri, visitors will search for the hidden meanings in the backgrounds of medieval and Renaissance paintings, before discovering how, over the centuries, the landscape has come to occupy a central and independent place in European art. When and why did artists begin to view nature as a subject worthy of filling the entire canvas?

To mark World Water Day, on Sunday 22 March at 3.30 pm, a special family workshop entitled ‘Getting to Know the Noncello’, dedicated to the river that gave the city its name: through hands-on experiments and observing samples taken from the Noncello and the surrounding area under a microscope, young and old alike will be able to discover just how much life depends on water, its characteristics and the importance of conserving it to prevent waste.
