Le attività di giugno nei Musei Civici

The Civic Museums are bringing June to life with a packed programme of guided tours, workshops and cultural events open to individual visitors, families and enthusiasts of all ages.

On Saturday 6 June at the Natural History Museum, there will be a presentation of the book "Testimoni del passato" by Adriano Noacco. This is an interesting popular science publication that explores the fossils found in the mountains of the Pordenone area and, through their stories, reconstructs the geological past of our region. The author will be speaking.

On Sunday 7 June at 3.30 pm, again at the Museo di Storia Naturale "Silvia Zenari", there will be a guided tour of the exhibition "Conchiglie. Gioielli dal mare e loro strategie": a fascinating journey through natural masterpieces from all over the world, revealing the extraordinary evolutionary strategies of these organisms. The tour lasts one hour and is open to all; booking is recommended by the previous Thursday.

On 13 and 14 June, Pordenone, in collaboration with the Soprintendenza ABAP of Friuli Venezia Giulia, is taking part in the European Archaeology Days: free admission for all to the Museo Archeologico del Friuli Occidentale, along with combined guided tours of the archaeological site of the Villa di Torre and the museum’s Roman section. There will be a series of morning tours (at 9.30 am and 10.30 am) and afternoon tours (at 2.30 pm and 3.30 pm), with the meeting point at the Roman villa.

There will be two activities for children and young people, who will be able to immerse themselves in the daily life of ancient Rome through games, interesting facts and hands-on activities. The first workshop will take place on Saturday 13 June at 4.30 pm at the Roman villa, whilst the one on Sunday 14 June at 4.30 pm, entitled ‘Ancient Romans for a Day’, will be held at the museum. All activities organised as part of the European Archaeology Days are free of charge and open to all without the need for booking.

Saturday 20 June sees the return of the monthly family event at the Zenari: ‘Let’s make… our own artistic shell!’ combines a visit to the shell exhibition with a creative workshop where children can recreate, with an artistic touch, the shell that has impressed them the most. The event lasts two hours and is open to families with children aged 6 to 10.

On Sunday 21 June at the Museo d'Arte, it’s time for the workshop ‘A Bizarre Bestiary!’: by looking at the works in the collection, young and old alike will discover the significance of real and fantastical animals in painting, before trying their hand at creating imaginary creatures. This too is a two-hour activity for families with children aged 6 to 10.

The month draws to a close on Sunday 28 June with the themed tour ‘Behind the Gaze: Portraits at Palazzo Ricchieri’ at the Museo d'Arte. A journey through the portraiture of the permanent collection, exploring stories of power, ambition and beauty, with a surprise finale: having your own portrait taken in 19th-century style.
