The City Council has approved the detailed design for the refurbishment of the exhibition spaces at the Galleria Harry Bertoia, a €2.5 million project financed by a loan, following a proposal by Deputy Mayor Mara Piccin.
The project concerns the exhibition venue housed in Palazzo Rorario Spelladi Silvestri, a building of significant historical value in the heart of the city, which had previously undergone refurbishment work between 2008 and 2012 to convert it into an exhibition space.
Through this project, the local council aims to upgrade the spaces in terms of functionality, technical infrastructure and safety, so as to make them suitable for hosting exhibitions of greater complexity and higher quality, thereby enhancing the venue’s capacity to host major exhibitions.
“This is a major infrastructure project that will enable us to modernise and enhance the performance of an exhibition space that is of strategic importance to the city,” emphasises Deputy Mayor Mara Piccin. “The aim is to ensure that the facilities are technically and functionally adequate, capable of supporting an increasingly high-calibre programme of exhibitions.”
The project, drawn up by architect Alessandro Chiodin with the assistance of engineer Franco Maschio on safety-related aspects, has a total budget of 2,500,000 euros, of which over 1.7 million is earmarked for the works. The detailed design has already been successfully approved and constitutes authorisation for the project to go ahead, whilst the start of works is subject to obtaining the opinion of the Superintendency.
This project forms part of a wider initiative to strengthen the city’s cultural infrastructure, with the aim of promoting its artistic heritage and expanding exhibition opportunities.
