To mark the 2025 European Heritage Days, over the weekend of 27 and 28 September, the Villa romana di Torre di Pordenone and the Museo Archeologico del Friuli Occidentale will be offering the public a special programme of special openings, guided tours and educational workshops.

The initiative, coordinated at national level by the Ministry of Culture and at regional level by the Superintendency for Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for Friuli Venezia Giulia, focuses this year on the theme ‘Architecture: the art of building’, which marks the 50th anniversary of the 1975 European Year of Architectural Heritage and invites us to explore the rich architectural landscape that surrounds us, from prehistory to the present day.

"The European Heritage Days are a valuable opportunity to showcase our cultural treasures. The Roman Villa at Torre and the Archaeological Museum are two of the region’s gems that deserve to be discovered and enjoyed by everyone,” comments Alberto Parigi, Councillor for Culture. “We have organised a packed programme that is completely free of charge, featuring guided tours and workshops designed for the whole family, so that our cultural heritage can become a shared experience accessible to everyone.”

The programme for Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 September

The programme, organised by Pordenone City Council and the Friuli Venezia Giulia Superintendency for Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape, in collaboration with the Eupolis architectural practice, involves the opening of the Villa romana di Torre in Noncello Municipal Park from 9.00 to 12.30, with guided tours scheduled for 9.30, 10.30 am and 11.30 am, whilst a workshop for children and families is scheduled for 10.30 am.

The Museo Archeologico del Friuli Occidentale will be open from 9.00 am to 12.00 pm and from 3.00 pm to 7.00 pm. During the morning, visitors will be able to take part in a guided tour of the Roman section, whilst on the afternoon of Saturday 27th, from 3.30 pm to 5.30 pm, there will be a continuous orienteering activity allowing families and groups to explore the museum’s collections by following maps and clues.

All events, organised by the Soprintendenza Archeologia belle arti e paesaggio FVG, Eupolis Studio Associato, the Museo Archeologico del Friuli Occidentale and Mondo Delfino Coop. Soc., are free to attend and do not require booking, subject to availability or once maximum capacity has been reached.
