Un fine settimana all’insegna della fotografia d’autore: in Galleria Bertoia due incontri e una visita guidata

To mark the final month of the “Sul Leggere” photography exhibitions dedicated to Robert Doisneau, Olivia Arthur, and Stefanie Moshammer (on view through April 6 at Galleria Bertoia, the Civic Museum of Art and Cultural Markets), Pordenone is preparing to enjoy a weekend dedicated to fine art photography with three events at Galleria Bertoia.

FRIDAY, MARCH 6, 5:30 P.M. — MEETING WITH MARCO BISCHOF

The first event will feature Marco Bischof, son of the legendary photographer Werner Bischof and a central figure in the history of Magnum Photos. The event offers a unique opportunity to revisit, through his firsthand account, crucial moments in the history of the world’s most prestigious photo agency and to explore the personal and professional legacy of Werner Bischof, one of the most important figures in 20th-century humanist photojournalism. Marco Bischof, a photographer and curator, is now in charge of his father’s archive. Following his father’s untimely death in 1954, he has dedicated his life to preserving and promoting this extraordinary photographic legacy, curating international exhibitions and publications that keep alive the relevance of the poetic vision that made Werner Bischof famous worldwide.

SATURDAY, MARCH 7, 5:30 P.M. - BOOK PRESENTATION ON WALTER ROSENBLUM

The second event will feature Angelo Maggi, an architect and photography historian and associate professor at the IUAV University of Venice, who will present a book dedicated to the American photographer Walter Rosenblum, a former CRAF Award winner. The project, produced by Suazes and published by Silvana Editoriale, celebrates this great master by analyzing his work within the historical and social context of his time. Angelo Maggi, author and editor of numerous publications on 20th-century photography, will draw on his expertise in the field of architectural photography and the relationship between image, space, and visual culture to offer a critical analysis of Rosenblum’s work.

SUNDAY, MARCH 8, 3:30 P.M. - GUIDED TOUR

The weekend will conclude with a guided tour of the Robert Doisneau exhibition, an opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of one of the greatest photographers of the 20th century. The exhibition features over one hundred images that trace the career of Doisneau, the master who captured Paris like no other: the cobblestone streets, the cafés, the working-class neighborhoods, and, of course, the famous *Baiser de l’Hôtel de Ville*, the black-and-white kiss that has become a universal icon: Robert Doisneau, The Gaze That Tells a Story – City of Pordenone

A PROJECT TOWARD PORDENONE 2027

“Sul Leggere” is a multi-year initiative leading up to 2027, the year Pordenone will serve as the Italian Capital of Culture. It is a cornerstone project of the “Pordenone 2027. A City That Surprises” bid, which was launched in late 2025, promoted by the Department of Culture of the City of Pordenone, and produced and organized by Suazes with the support of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
