CINEMA EFFIMERO #3

Cinema ‘ephemera’ are returning to the Galleria Sagittaria in Pordenone, where they have been exhibited to great acclaim in recent seasons: once again, the exhibition ‘Cinema Effimero: Materials for Communication and Promotion – The Origins of Social Media’ draws on Silvia Moras’s private collection.

A fascinating exhibition, like a time machine, taking visitors on a journey to the roots of social media and digital communication in our time, through around a hundred objects from different parts of the world, dating from the silent film era right up to the 1980s.

With a special added bonus: a tribute to an iconic figure from the early days of cinema, Rudolph Valentino, on the centenary of his death in New York on 23 August 1926.

The event will take place on Friday 5 June at 5.30 pm at the Galleria Sagittaria in Casa Zanussi, Pordenone, for the ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the exhibition: This is the 516th exhibition organised by the Pordenone Centre for Cultural Initiatives, organised in collaboration with the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia and the Municipality of Pordenone as part of the bid for the 2027 Italian Capital of Culture, with the support of Fondazione Friuli and Casa Zanussi Pordenone Cultural Centre.

The opening ceremony will be attended by the curator, Silvia Moras, and the president of the Pordenone Centre for Cultural Initiatives, Fulvio Dell’Agnese. The exhibition, which runs until 28 August 2026, will be open to the public free of charge from Monday to Saturday, from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm.

At the opening event, the exhibition catalogue will be presented; it includes an extensive overview of the ephemeral materials at the heart of this exhibition and the two previous ones, accompanied by essays by renowned film historians such as Carlo Montanaro, Paolo Caneppele, Mariapia Comand and Paolo Tosini.

The exhibition will be closed on Sundays and Saturdays in July and August, and from 3 to 14 August.
