In 2026, the world will celebrate the centenary of the birth of Miles Davis, the elusive artist who transformed the soundscapes of contemporary culture.
A major exhibition—conceived to be heard even before it is seen—realized in collaboration with prestigious institutions such as the American Jazz Museum in Kansas City and the House of Miles in East St. Louis, and with the support of the Davis family.
A sensory experience blending music, technology, and visual storytelling. Curated by Enrico Merlin—an internationally renowned scholar and specialist in the work of Miles Davis—in collaboration with the Jazzinsieme Festival, the project marks the beginning of an ongoing dialogue between the Pordenone region and major American museum networks.
The exhibition unfolds across eight thematic areas that explore the artistic, human, and iconographic dimensions of Miles. A highlight of the show is Miles Davis’s original trumpet—on loan from collector Don Hicks—displayed in a room dedicated to the "galaxy" of collaborators who gravitated around the revolutionary Bitches Brew era.
Beyond the exhibition itself, MILES DAVIS 100 will be a vibrant hub: weekly events are scheduled, including listening sessions and talks by international guests such as Stefano Zenni, Luca Bragalini, and Anthony Barboza himself. Special emphasis will be placed on the unique bond between Davis and Italy, documented through posters, videos, and previously unreleased recordings.
An exhibition project curated by Enrico Merlin, supported by the Municipality of Pordenone and organized by the Jazzinsieme Festival as part of the initiatives leading up to the Italian Capital of Culture 2027.
