“Once again this year, during Pordenonelegge, the City Council will be playing its part with a whole series of events, including a major exhibition dedicated to Inge Morath, alongside two other events: the ‘Icons of Art’ exhibition project and a further event focusing on the theme of artificial intelligence,” said Councillor Alberto Parigi.

“Inge Morath,” continues Parigi, “is one of the greatest photographers of the 20th century. Her photographs have the power to delve into the inner lives of her subjects and are always the result of a process of understanding and closeness. In the 2000s, a foundation dedicated to her was established in the United States of America, and her archive is held at Yale University. In 1992, Austria awarded her the Great Austrian State Prize for photography. Her solo exhibitions have been held in leading international museums in Austria, Germany, Russia, France, the United Kingdom, Spain, the USA, Uruguay, the Netherlands, Hungary, Japan, Belgium, the Czech Republic and Slovenia. This gives us an idea of the significance of the event.”

“With regard to Icons of Art,” the councillor continues, “the aim is to promote the city’s museums as part of a cultural network linking the city and the wider region, which is why we have accepted the proposal from the Naonis Cultural Association to host a selection of mosaic works at the Civic Art Museum; some of which were created for the ‘Mosaic Young Talent 2025’ competition. Pordenonelegge is now a well-established event and, for this very reason, we want to play an active role in supporting and enhancing this major event.”

Mayor Alessandro Basso is also pleased: “We are working together with local organisations; this is precisely where our strength lies. The city and the local council can act as the hub that brings so many organisations together, and we will do everything we can to ensure that this happens. We have a well-established relationship with Pordenonelegge and its President, Mr Agrusti, which enables Pordenone to attract international visitors, and we want to play a leading role in this.”
