The Pordenone Civic Museums are once again offering a packed programme of activities for November, organised by the Department of Culture, covering topics ranging from nature to prehistory, and from art to traditional crafts: themed tours and educational workshops await visitors of all ages, promising an engaging and accessible cultural experience.
Please also note that on 1 November, to mark All Saints’ Day, the Civic Museums will remain open to the public during their usual opening hours: Galleria Bertoia 10.00–13.00 and 15.00–19.30, the Civic Art Museum from 10.00 to 13.00 and from 15.00 to 19.00, the Natural History Museum from 13.00 to 19.00, and the Archaeological Museum from 9.00 to 12.00 and from 15.00 to 18.00.
Museo di Storia Naturale Silvia Zenari
On Sunday 2 November at 3.30 pm, there will be a final tour of the temporary exhibition ‘In and Out of the Water’, a guided tour through photographs and artefacts to discover the organisms of the open Adriatic Sea and the extraordinary adaptations that enable them to cope with environmental challenges, from waves to climate change.
The monthly ‘Saturday at the Museum’ event returns on Saturday 8 November at 3.00 pm with the family workshop ‘Let’s… be a palaeontologist!’. This two-hour activity is aimed at children aged 6 to 10, accompanied by an adult, and offers a chance to discover, through surprises and hands-on activities, the role of the palaeontologist and the secrets of their fascinating profession. Museo Archeologico di Torre
On Sunday 9 November at 3.30 pm, the Archaeological Museum is hosting ‘Il menù del Palù’, an educational workshop that takes families on a journey of discovery into prehistoric diets. By exploring artefacts from the famous Palù di Livenza archaeological site, children and adults will learn about the dietary habits of hunter-gatherers and experience first-hand the sifting technique used by archaeologists to recover seeds and plant remains. On Thursday 13 November at 6.00 pm, singer-songwriter Edoardo De Angelis will present his book *Anche le statue parlano* (Even Statues Speak), a collection of one hundred stories taking readers on an adventurous journey along the fine line between myth, reality and imagination. In marvellous settings, statues, paintings and historical artefacts have come back to life, breaking a long silence and beginning to tell their stories. On Sunday 30 November at 3.30 pm, there will be a themed tour entitled ‘Living in the Past: Friuli before the Romans’, a fascinating journey through Bronze and Iron Age settlements. Participants will discover the typical dwellings of ancient Friuli, the building techniques used, and many interesting facts about the daily lives of our ancestors. Museo d'Arte - Ricchieri
On Sunday 16 November at 3.30 pm, the Art Museum presents ‘Walls that Tell Stories: the Frescoes of Palazzo Ricchieri’, a guided tour focusing on the exquisite fresco cycles that adorn the 14th-century palace. An opportunity to discover the history of these works, the conservation techniques used and the artistic value of one of the few palaces in the city that still preserves these treasures. All guided tours last approximately one hour and can accommodate up to 25 participants.
The workshops are aimed at families with children, last around two hours and can accommodate up to 20 participants.
Booking is recommended and should, if possible, be made by the Thursday before each session.
